Cornelius

Todd Bergeron, MBA, BS, LAT-ATC
Presidenttodd bergeron
Todd graduated from Cambrian College with a degree in Fitness Management. He then went on to obtain a BS in Exercise Science with a concentration in Sports Medicine from Lake Superior State University. Upon completing his BS he held the position as Assistant Athletic Trainer and Strength Coach at Webber International University and earned his MBA. He later went on to be the Head Athletic Trainer of the Cape Fear Wildcats professional arena football team. Todd joins In Motion Fitness after serving as the Director of Bladen Fitness Services, a hospital owned fitness facility. As a prior national championship collegiate athlete and fitness enthusiast, Todd brings over 22 years of diverse experience from the fitness, and sports medicine industries. He is a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) through the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA).

 

Matt Perry, MA, ATC, CSCS

Matt holds a BS in Sports Medicine from Valdosta State University and a Master’s Degree in Physical Education with an emphasis in Exercise Science from the University of Louisville. While at the University of Louisville Matt served as the Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer for both the football and baseball programs. Matt brings over 29 years of extensive exercise, conditioning, and sports medicine knowledge and experience including holding the position of Head Athletic Trainer and Strength and Conditioning Coach at Webber International University for six years. Matt is an accomplished tri-athlete having successfully completed Ironman Florida and numerous Half Ironman events around the country. He is a Certified Athletic Trainer and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist.

While in college, she starting teaching classes and training clients in a corporate wellness center and later gained experience working in clinical settings and non-profit organizations. She is an AFAA Group Exercise Instructors and ACE Personal Trainer and loves researching and attending conferences on anything health and wellness related. As the director of In Motion Fitness she enjoys balancing her time training clients one on one, teaching small group trainings, and creating challenges to keep clients engaged and motivated!

 

Shelley Witkin, M.Ed, BA, NSCA-CPT, NASM-CPT, CFSC

Shelley holds a Masters degree in Education from Tulane University and has done extensive postgraduate studies. She is certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine as a personal trainer (NASM-CPT), the National Strength and Conditioning Association where she is certified as a personal trainer with distinction, (NSCA- CPT*D), and is a Certified Functional Strength Coach (CFSC). Shelley is a competitive Masters Weightlifter. Her focus is working with women who relish the challenge of an exercise training program to assist them in achieving short and long-term fitness goals. She specializes in working with adult women; more specifically ages 50 plus. Shelley has over 20 years experience in the health and fitness industry.

A Northern Ohio native, Travis relocated to the Lake Norman area after majoring in Physical Education at the University of Toledo. Travis has been in the industry for over 12 years, serving the Lake Norman Area for nearly 10. As a member of the In Motion Team since 2013 Travis’s expertise in corrective exercise has helped clients of all ages live a healthier and more active lifestyle, enabling them to enjoy activities they thought were a thing of the past. Travis is certified through the National Academy of Sports Medicine and he looks forward to continuing to provide his expertise to the Lake Norman community.

 

Dane Corriher, BS, NSCA-CPT

Dane joined the team at In Motion Fitness in 2013. He graduated from UNC-Asheville with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Health and Wellness Promotion. While at UNC-Asheville, Dane was a sprinter for the Bulldogs and currently holds the 400 meter record for both indoor and outdoor track. He was also employed with the Health and Fitness Center while at UNC-Asheville. Dane graduated from the National Personal Training Institute in Charlotte, NC where he completed a 500 hour course in personal training. He currently holds his certification with the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM-CPT). We are excited to have Dane as a part of the IMF team!!

Have you recently had a baby and just want your old body back? Are you a senior with health issues that are starting to adversely affect your quality of life? Young or old, fit or not so fit, Lisa Reece is eager to help. As a mother of 5 children, Lisa knows that every person has different needs and limitations.
She has earned a degree as a Fitness Specialist from the University of Alabama and specializes in cardiopulmonary rehabilitation. Lisa is a certified AFAA personal trainer/group fitness instructor and has been in the fitness industry since 1981. As a certified Pilates instructor in both mat and Reformer Pilates, Lisa practices what she preaches and has shaped and transformed her own physique through the practice of Pilates. She enjoys working with active older adults, special populations and those with physical therapy needs. “Most people think the only way to develop strength, shape lean muscle, and improve quality of life is through traditional weight training. But that is simply not true. I believe that functional training, Pilates, and other alternative forms of strength training are more effective for reaching these goals.”

Gifted with a soothing voice, tranquil demeanor, and bright smile, Maria has become a fan favorite with our senior clientale. Although she enjoys working with beginners and active older adults, Maria’s client base is diverse from young to old. Her fitness philosophy is to educate her clients; and to train them — athletes and non-athletes — in a functional and integrative way while emphasizing the importance of core strength, balance, and flexibility. “I don’t want my clients to just be strong lifting weights in the gym, but rather, I want them to be strong outside the gym in their regular life”. Maria’s experience in the fitness field began in 1992 after graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in psychology. She earned her Group Exercise and Strength & Conditioning Specialist certifications through the Canada YMCA in 1996 and has been a certified AFAA Personal Trainer since 2001. “I like to approach exercise – both training and yoga – with a sense of play. The best part is, before you know it, you’re working hard and sweating and you didn’t even see it coming.”

 

Glen Thompson

glen_81Endurance Specialist In Motion Fitness, Inc welcome’s Glen Thompson to their team of skilled health and fitness professionals. Glen’s primary concentration is endurance training for all levels. Endurance training is a method of exercise used to improve aerobic conditioning for all skill levels, from the recreationist to the fitness enthusiast or the beginner athlete to your Olympic competitor. Glen has had the privilege to gain valuable experience working alongside many professional athletes including Dan Jansen (Gold Medal Olympic Speed Skater) and Zola Budd Pierterse (Olympic track and field competitor, world cross-country champion and former World Record Holder for 500m). Both have commended him on his technique and level of skill saying “Glen makes running fast look easy”, and “Glen has a beautiful stride”.His method of training has allowed him to become top in his field of exercise, including the below accomplishments.

Theresa Stern, RN BSN, NASM-CPT

Inmotion Portrait TheresaTheresa is an avid runner who has always been dedicated to her own fitness. She has run several marathons and enjoys weight training. She saw an opportunity to help others combining her nursing knowledge and exercise science. Theresa has a Bachelor Degree in the Science of Nursing and is Certified though the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) as a personal trainer. Theresa became a personal trainer due to the benefits that strength training provided not only on fitness, but for overall health as a whole. There are so may diseases that can be prevented and even reversed through fitness. Theresa is dedicated to help each client meet his/her individual goals for optimum health.

 

Eduardo Lorenzo, NASM-CPT
Eduardo Lorenzo, NASM-CPTEd is an avid fitness and sports enthusiast. He holds a personal trainer certification through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). With over 12 years in the fitness industry, he has extensive experience working with people of different backgrounds and fitness levels from beginners to elite athletes who seek to increase strength, performance and fat loss. He recently relocated from Florida, where he owned and managed his training facility for over 5 years, to Huntersville, North Carolina. His experience also includes being personal training director of multiple fitness facilities. Ed is an obstacle course athlete and Ninja Warrior competitor. He has competed in over 50 obstacle course races since 2012. Some of his recent accomplishments are: 2016 OCR World Champions Qualifier, 34th place out of 1221 at Battlefrog Charlotte 2016; American Ninja Warrior competitor and course tester and 5th Place Team Competition at EATA, Miami FL, among a few. His motto is “Train Hard. Train Smart. Because Results Matter.”

 

Cornelius – Massage Therapists

DeKarus is a native of Charlotte, NC and a graduate of NC State University. After college, and some soul searching, he decided to follow his intuition and become a massage therapist. He graduated from South Eastern Institute’s massage therapy school with honors and is one of the best decisions he has made in my life.

DeKarus says, “With massage, the practitioner gets to express their creativity in the art of healing. Massage allows various modalities, techniques, scientific academia, and spirituality to collide in a session to bring about change in a patient. The mind, body, and soul play an intricate part in our overall health. When we neglect any part of this interwoven trio, ailments can arise. With the right therapist, this path to perfect health can be accomplished.”


He has worked with a diverse clientele base from triathletes, Cross Fit athletes, professional bodybuilders, and dancers. Not only does he provide a variety of massage modalities, he is also a certified Kinesio tape practitioner with a focus on sports and orthopedic applications.

Kina HendersonKina Henderson is a licensed Massage Therapist and Esthetician. Kina has been providing massage and esthetic services for a combined total of 7 years. She uses a holistic approach specializing in Neuromuscular Therapy, Deep Tissue, Trigger point, Swedish, Pre-natal, Sports and Hot Stone massage. She believes that the fusion of relaxation and clinical therapy massage aids in the body’s natural healing process and re-connects the person as a whole. She carefully plans out each massage in accordance with client needs and requests, personalizing the experience for every individual.

Gary Holland has been in the health and fitness industry for over 16 years. His innovative programs and exceptional customer service have made him an industry leader. His creative skill set combined with his knowledge of anatomy and his massage therapy license have assisted him in becoming well-known for his ability to administer corrective exercise programs. He has assisted client’s in obtaining their goals ranging from general wt. loss to post-rehabilitative care. He also has a passion for youth athletic programs and is dedicated to their overall athletic development and the reduction of injuries. Gary is currently certified with the National Academy of Sports Medicine as a CPT (Certified Personal Trainer) and PES (Performance Enhancement Specialist). He also holds a license in massage therapy from the Edmund Morgan Massage Therapy School since 2005. He later became certified as a Golf Fitness Specialist from the Titleist Performance Institute. Most recently Gary has been seeking certifications as an Active Release Technique (ART) Specialist and has completed course work for the lower extremity, spine, and the upper extremity. Gary is simply one of a kind when it comes to helping people lead a lifestyle free of pain. His extensive knowledge of human anatomy and physiology allows him to assess and correct dysfunctions in human movement patterns that lead to pain. Since joining In Motion in 2011 he has helped develop the Mooresville office and most recently become a partner with the opening of the Statesville office.

 

Spencer W. Metz, NASM, NPTI

spencerSpencer is a Mooresville native, achieving an Associate’s Degree with Honors from Central Piedmont Community College in 2011. He is driven by helping others and passionate about the fitness industry. Spencer attended the 6 month National Personal Training Institute program. This instructional and hands-on training course enabled Spencer to become a certified personal trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine in 2013. Spencer has made an immediate impact with his clients, through positive reinforcement and rewarding results.

 

 

Dawn Dellario AA, NSCA-CPT, PCI

Dawn Transferred to the Mooresville area in 2015 from Maryland, where she had a successful Personal Training business. She is a graduate of Pinnacle Career Institute where she earned an Associates of Occupational Studies in Personal Training with an emphasis in Rehabilitation and Specialized Population. She earned her Personal Training Certification thru the National Sports and Conditioning Association. She completed an Internship in physical therapy at the Calvert Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine. She has also worked with youth soccer teams in Maryland, concentrating on speed and agility. She specializes in corrective exercises and rehabilitation post operative and sports related injuries. Dawn’s passion is helping her clients regain strength and mobility to assume activities of daily life. “I believe that functional training not only trains the body but the mind as well. Cognitive functioning and neuromuscular control are at the root of every motion we perform throughout the day and in our jobs”. Dawn is dedicated to helping her clients enjoy a healthier and pain free life.

kathleen400Kat has worked in the fitness industry for more than 20 years and holds a Bachelors in Health Administration. She is a Certified Personal Trainer through The National Academy of Sports Medicine with a Specialization in Fitness Nutrition. She has experience developing personalized fitness and nutrition programs for all age groups and fitness levels. She approaches her work with a high level of initiative, reliability, empathy and determination. Every body and mind is different and she believes they should be approached and trained accordingly. She will give you all the “tools” you need to build your confidence and self-assurance, inside and out. Her philosophy is to make your fitness quest an exciting, fun-filled adventure!

Davidson

Inmotion fitness staff Martin HaiderOriginally from Vienna, Austria, Martin brings a charismatic personality and numerous qualifications to the fitness facility.
He holds a degree in Exercise Science and Health Promotion and is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist from the National Strength and Conditioning Association. He has over 10 years of experience in the fitness industry, which includes training high school, college, and professional athletes.
He currently oversees the personal training, group fitness classes and the strength and conditioning program for the River Run Tennis Academy. In addition he organizes seasonal specialty programs, like Golf Fitness and Kids Fitness.
Martin works to increase the fitness level of each member, regardless of age, skill, or limitations. He and his staff strive to improve the lives of others by providing an effective, safe, and fun fitness experience.
When not in the fitness center, Martin is running a small photography business -Martificial Photography, and is often found mountain biking or hiking with his wife and his two dogs.

 

Sean Raynor, B.S., ACSM-CPT

Inmotion Portrait Sean Raynor_webSean is a graduate of North Carolina Wesleyan College with a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science. While at Wesleyan, he was a four year letterman in Men’s Soccer. He has been in the fitness industry since 2007 and has experience working with young athletes, individual and group strength training, as well as general fitness. He is currently certified as a personal trainer through the American College of Sports Medicine. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family and serving as a volunteer assistant coach for the Johnson & Wales University Men’s Soccer Team.

Joy Nishioka NSPA – CPT

Joy has always been dedicated to fitness. She grew up with an athletically active lifestyle of swimming, soccer, lacrosse, figure skating and weight training. It was a very natural transition into personal training for her. Joy has been working in the fitness industry since 2003. She specializes in core fitness, balance training and functional movements. This type of training helped many clients she worked with at Boca West CC, one of the top rated country clubs in the US. She is has been certified as a Personal Trainer through the National Strength Professional Association for over 12 years.
